Life in the Laundry Room

Our cat with the most seniority is Lucy. She is a cat with many nicknames - Lulu, Lucifer, Luce and sometimes bi*** kitty, if she's hissed at Chris. Lucy is about 16 years old, having come into our household when Matt was about 3 years old. She's moved around with us over the years, and she's had to get used to 3 more cats and then even worse, 3 dogs. So I have to give her credit for being a survivor and for being adaptable to all that change in her lifetime. Because she's never been able to accept the dogs she lives most of her life in the laundry room, her safe haven. And most of that time is spent on top of the dryer. Whenever I come into the laundry room she greets me with a "meow" and starts rolling around hoping for a good scratch behind the ears and under the chin. Oh, how she loves that kind of attention!

I hope Lucy's health remains good - she has bad wheezing spells periodically and we get her to the vet for some steroid treatments which help her quite a bit. She's low maintenance, very loving and eager to be with her people, even if it's only a short visit in the laundry room. I hope she's happy - I don't think she'll ever make peace with the dogs, so the rest of her feline years will be much more of the same - eating and sleeping in the quiet darkness of the laundry room. Good kitty!
